I wanted this first blog entry to be a sort of introduction to what exactly The Aesthetic Eclectic is. As an interior designer and a vegan myself, I have found no shortage of resources online for cruelty-free food/recipes, beauty/cosmetics, and even fashion, but noticed a definite lack of cruelty-free interiors content. My goal is to help fill that void, and to bring content to this blog that is not only educational, but also inspirational. While the blog will be about interiors in general, there will be a specific focus on cruelty-free design (no fur, leather, wool, silk or feathers). I want to demonstrate that living a cruelty-free lifestyle and creating stylish and sophisticated interiors can beautifully coexist. This is a space where I will be sharing tips and advice, as well as offering cruelty-free alternatives to some more traditional home furnishings and décor.

So why go cruelty-free? Besides being a vegan or animal lover, there are many reasons why people choose to avoid certain products and materials. Some common factors are allergies and sensitivities, religious and personal reasons, cost, environmental awareness, just to name a few. Some of the most sought after home furnishings take the largest toll on our planet. Cruelty free design and environmentally responsible design (”green” design) often go hand in hand. Some of the most budget-friendly products also happen to be cruelty-free.

Why The Aesthetic Eclectic? Well, because my own style and tastes are quite eclectic, and because the focus of this site will always place an emphasis on the aesthetic aspect of design. No sacrificing style for ethics - I firmly believe that you can have both.

I am excited to share my professional expertise and passion for design, as well as my commitment to living a cruelty-free lifestyle.  I hope you enjoy following along!
