Rituals: for Autumn

When we elevate our everyday routines to something intentional and meaningful, they become rituals. Sacred practices that celebrate and honor the beauty of everyday life. This extends to our homes. During the early stages of the pandemic, during lockdown, I began lighting a tealight in a glass votive holder at the dinner table each night, much like my favorite restaurants. This seemingly small touch elevated even weeknight dinners to something special. The glow of the thick, wavy glass on the center of the table created an intimate energy. It was such a beautiful and welcome change, and so small and easy to do, that I have continued the practice to this day.

Some tealight and votive holders I am currently loving, and don’t forget some beautiful matches. (Note: There are no affiliate links contained in this post, just products that I genuinely love and want to share.)

Mornings: Probably one of the most rushed and hectic times of day. We might not be able to slow down and truly savor this time, but why not make it special, anyway? Some easy ideas that won’t add any time onto your routine: An aromatherapy shower bundle. This one from Anthropologie is sold out, but there are some fantastic, similar options from online marketplaces like Etsy. Shower tablets are another great option, as well.

Evenings: With the days getting colder and evenings getting darker earlier, unwind by lighting your favorite scented candle. This can elevate even the most basic of tasks, like folding laundry or making your to-do list for the next day. Or if instead of a candle, incense is more your thing, a couple of beautiful options can be found here and here. Also, a sleek and minimal lighter fitting for the occasion.
